Nominator's project description
| Professor Dr. Hiroshi Toki is one of the leading experts in the field of describing properties of hadrons and nuclei at the interface between nuclear and particle physics, starting from the fundamental degrees of freedom of quarks and gluons. He made among others decisive contributions to pion condensation, to the reduction of the magnetic dipole transitions in nuclei and to the understanding of color confinement in quantum chromodynamics by monopole condensation. Presently he is director of the Research Center of Nuclear Physics in Oska. He is the leading theoretical physicist in the field of medium energy physics in Japan and is one of the
most outstanding representatives in this field worldwide. |
